156058_466174063454752_767164571_nNestled in the southeastern tip of Samal, Island Garden Resort is a hidden paradise recently opened to the public earlier this year (January). Thank goodness the owners opened its fences, and decided to fully convert this formerly restricted area into a perfect getaway destination in the South.

I have been into numerous beach resorts (in the past) here and abroad and I would say that this humble resort in Pagubatan, Kaputian District is at par if not above the standards of those higly commercialized; exclusive yet very-expensive-super-popular-but-over-crowded-resorts. This is a perfect place for people who are looking for a perfect getaway destination to relax and enjoy. Five minutes in this place and you will surely  ease the stress and pressure from your busy life in the Metro. Imagine yourself sun bathing in a lazy late afternoon; laying on the white sand beach; listening to the relaxing sound created by the Pacific Ocean waves that gently folds into the shore; feeling the mist of the the cool sea breeze that mildly blows into your face; enjoying total peace and tranquility in your own slice of paradise whilst sipping a fresh coconut juice in a shell! Seriously, what more could you ask for, right?  So, if you are looking for a perfect vacation destination in the South, I highly recommend for you to consider this place. I’m sure you will love this hidden paradise! Here is a detailed REVIEW which might give you the information that you need:

HOORAYS! –The crystal clear water partnered by the rubbish-free white sand is a winner. Blocking of beaches in Pagubatan is not allowed so you will enjoy a continuous coastline perfect for afternoon walks or morning runs! If you love Sunrises, you will surely love this place. The sunrise here is truly breathtaking. There is a near shoal that has an amazing coral reefs- perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving.

BUMMERS!– Some parts of the beach are too rocky. Seaweeds grow tall from the seabed so there are also some parts which may be “too-creepy-to-set-foot-in” TBH, I never really saw any unusual sea creatures there, so I guess, it’s safe.

IMG_4857ROOMS and COTTAGES:

HOORAYS!: The treehouse is very lovely. It is literally five steps away from the beach. Very organized and clean. The ambience it gives is also incredibly relaxing. I also saw there cottages. Perfect for honeymooners. They also have a family room and a dorm-type backpackers cabin especially designed for big groups.

BUMMERS!: The treehouse has no toilet (although a common bath and shower is just a stone-throw away). Only the family room and the dorm-type backpackers cabin have air-conditioning units (but seriously, who needs aircon if you have an abundance of  the natural, pollution-free, and cool sea breeze, yeah?). I think they also have other suites but I was not able to see them so I can’t comment :)

HOORAYS!: Amazing presentation. The plating and garnishing are the same as those served in  five-star restaurants. They have a wide variety of wines and spirits as well as cocktails and mixed drinks. Local beers are cheaper by the dozen.

BUMMERS!: Not everything on the menu is available (which is normal, i guess). Servings are usually for sharing- not ideal for solo travelers.

the PRICE:

HOORAYS!: Very CHEAP. The treehouse rate is just a few cents more than $20!  Cottages cost about $25. By the way, that’s good for two. For backpackers, a dorm bed is about $8. The food is also very cheap. My seafood dinner, a full breakfast, two coffees, and four shots of vodka damaged me no more than $10.

BUMMERS!: As far as price is concerned, NONE.

299218_471489632923195_337062857_nOTHER AMENITIES:

HOORAYS!: Snorkeling and Scuba Diving gears are available. There is a game lounge where you can play Ping Pong or Darts. Massage service is also available upon request. Aside from the restaurant, there is also a small chapel, a multi-purpose cabana, a volleyball court, and some beach mattresses.

BUMMERS!: No swimming pool (Do you really need it, seriously?). Some parts of the resort are still under construction.

LOCATION:

HOORAYS!: Far from civilization, thus, peace and serenity is guaranteed. The place has a good commanding view of the sunrise. Very quiet at night.

BUMMERS!: Well, very far from the airport. it took me 2-3hours to reach the resort. The road going to Pagubatan from Kaputian District is rough and rocky. No other means of public transport but motorcycles. Not ideal for party animals. There is no party here. Nightlife is dead. I repeat- NO party here. Nightlife is dead.

SERVICES :

HOORAYS!: The service is world-class. I honestly never felt i was a paying guest. The staff and crew treated me like a friend who is visiting for the weekend. Super nice staff. Hospitality is superb. I swear, I will definitely come back even just for a visit. The real asset of this resort, really, is its man power. KUDOS!

BUMMERS!: Are you kidding me?? I am super satisfied with the services. i would rate it a 10!
